What is SSBMT

The Saudi Scientific Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (SSBMT) is a professional non-profit organization, founded according to King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences Council Meeting of 05 February 2008 and based on the Ministry of Higher Education agreement letter no. 293/A dated 02 March 2008 (23/2/1429). The Society aims to promote the advancement in management of the blood and marrow transplantation and related diseases.
The Society represents multiple medical and scientific disciplines such as hematology, oncology, immunology, genetics, microbiology, pediatrics and internal medicine.
The Executive Board of the Society is formed according to the regulations of the MOHE. It consists of the President, the Vice-President, the treasurer and four to six members. All members are appointed by general election according to the regulation of MOHE.

MISSION

To promote and enhance science, research and proper practice in the field of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and related blood and cancer diseases.

To be a high-standard resource for health care workers, patients and the public in the field of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and related blood and cancer diseases.
To provide excellence in research, education and patient care.

To promote scientific research and enhance the number of publications at national and international level.
To foster and facilitate scientific communication among members of the society.
To provide scientific advice and guidance in the field of specialization.
To promote evidence-based practice and training in the field of specialization.
To facilitate exchange of science and research in the field of specialization among scientific societies and agencies inside and outside the Kingdom.
To set-up general ethical standards for professional practice.
To act as a resource for patients and workers in the field of specialization.
To provide social and psychological support to patients and their families.

Development, facilitation and promotion of scientific research and studies in the field of specialization.
Development of national registries for hematological disorders.
Publication and exchange of science and research results with concerned agencies and the public.
Translation of books and scientific materials in the field of specialization.
Participation of scientific meetings, conferences and courses.
Enhancement and facilitation of continuous medical education and training in the field of specialization.
Establish communication and collaboration with official or non-official societies, agencies, scientists or professionals inside or outside the Kingdom for the purpose of achieving its goals.
Development or adaptation of guidelines in the field of specialization for standardization purposes.
