19 NEW GENES REPRESENTING NOVEL HLA ALLELES HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED IN THE SAUDI POPULATION BY THE SAUDI STEM CELL DONOR REGISTRY (SSCDR)
These new alleles could be unique for the Saudi population and may represent unique tissue typing. Of note, is that each individual has an HLA type, which is needed to match donors and recipients when it comes to organ and stem cell transplants.
The following is the list of the newly discovered and reported HLA alleles in the Saudi population by the SSCDR.
